THE PIECE

Below it, a circular medallion holds the true focal point: a miniature pichwai-style painting of Radha-Krishna, the traditional devotional art form known for its dense, richly coloured backgrounds and fine figural detail, here rendered in miniature with two figures set against a vivid green, floral garden scene. The earring closes with a large octagonal gold panel, its surface worked entirely in repoussé floral relief, raised rather than stone-set, giving weight and texture to the piece's lower half. The pichwai painting technique, layered colour and intricate linework packed into a small circular frame, is what sets this piece apart from a simple painted motif.
