THE PIECE
Three stones run directly into each other, hanging as one unbroken column. An oval blue opens the piece at the top, deep and cool, flanked by two small clear stones. A pear-cut pink follows, point facing down. The piece closes on a heart-cut olive green at the base, larger than either stone above it. The detail worth pausing on sits at the middle join, where the point of the pear settles directly into the cleft at the top of the heart, so the two shapes interlock rather than simply rest against each other.
THE JOIN THAT TAKES THE MOST WORK
Setting a point into a cleft is a far harder join than setting one flat edge against another. A flat seam has a little give either way. A point meeting a notch has exactly one correct position and nothing forgiving about it, so both bezels have to be shaped precisely enough to meet at a single spot rather than along a line, and any gap shows instantly. It's the one place in the whole piece where the gold is doing something exact rather than simply holding a stone in place, and everything else stays plain enough to let that one join carry the design.
