THE PIECE
Three stones run directly into one another, falling from the chain in one unbroken line. A round olive green opens the top, a complete circle with no direction at all, flanked by two small clear stones. Below it sits a cushion-cut red, its corners softened rather than sharp, deeper in tone than either stone around it. The piece ends on a pear-cut pink at the base, tapering to a single point, the largest and brightest stone of the three. No two stones share a shape family, circle to cushion to pear, each one held in its own plain, unbroken band of gold.
WHAT THE SHAPES ARE DOING
Colour isn't the only thing moving down this piece. Shape is too. A circle points nowhere. A cushion softens its corners just enough to suggest direction without committing to it. A pear resolves that hesitation into one clear point. Read top to bottom, the piece gets more decisive with every stone, arriving at the base already aimed somewhere specific. That progression does more work than the colour change alone would, since the eye follows the sharpening shape before it even registers which stone is brightest. The setting adds nothing to slow that down, each stone held by a plain band of gold worked flush to its edge.
