THE PIECE
Three stones run straight into each other with no gap between them, falling from the collarbone in one connected line. An oval olive green opens the piece at the top, held between two small clear stones. Below it sits an emerald-cut red, bright and clean rather than deep or brick-toned. The piece closes on a pear-cut pink, point facing down, the largest and most saturated stone in the set. Each stone is cased in its own plain, unbroken band of gold, and the chain is a fine gold cable, left bare.
THE ONE RULE IT BREAKS
Red and pink sitting directly on top of each other, with nothing between them but a rim of gold, is the boldest call this piece makes. The two sit close enough on the colour wheel that most designers put something cooler in between, a stone, a stretch of chain, anything to stop them reading as one smear of colour. This necklace skips that caution entirely. The green at the top isn't there to cool things down, it just gives the eye somewhere to land before red and pink take over. And because the final stone tapers to a point instead of curving, the whole piece seems to reach further past the collarbone than it actually does.
